A negative emission internal combustion engine vehicle?

نویسندگان

چکیده

Modern internal combustion engine vehicles carry extensive exhaust aftertreatment systems that have the potential to reduce their tailpipe pollutant emissions near-zero, or even within zero levels of measurement equipment in real-world conditions. It has been reported, therefore, such lower than air intake vehicle – they are cleaning ambient air. This study investigates this hypothesis using a range engines and data alongside (in case nitrogen dioxide particulate matter) from around world accuracy instrumentation typically used measure emissions. The results show it is unlikely modern will clean air, at extreme pollution levels, although possible. However, where inlet plume dirtier measured among highest values recorded globally, reduction can be substantial.

Exhaust Emission Analysis of an Internal Combustion Engine Fuelled with Hydrogen-Ethanol Dual Fuel

The work presented in this paper is an attempt to evaluate the exhaust emission characteristics of a hydrogen-ethanol dual fuel combination with different percents of hydrogen substitutions (i.e. 0-80 % by volume and of 20 % increment ) at three different compression ratios of 7:1, 9:1 and 11:1. Experimental investigations have been carried out on a computer interfaced with; four-stroke cycle, ...

Engine Modeling of an Internal Combustion Engine

In the modern world, one of the largest concerns is the ever depleting supply of oil. The automotive industry is especially impacted. In recent years the price of gasoline has fluctuated substantially and the price of crude oil has reached record highs. The high price of gasoline coupled with the uncertainty of its availability and future price have put a high priority on fuel economy of an eng...

Hybrid Internal Combustion Engine: Driving a Vehicle Using Air Compressed in Braking

After the oil crisis of the 1970's, stringent government standards placed on automobile manufacturers have led the industry to explore more fuel efficient alternatives to the vehicle with a conventional internal combustion engine/transmission powertrain. This is the motivation behind Mr. David F. Moyer's hybrid internal combustion engine concept. A vehicle using this engine should attain higher...

LES of spray and combustion in an internal combustion engine

With the ever rising need for better fuel efficiency and lower emissions, the development of better engine technology is essential. Different strategies are being considered to increase engine efficiency, such as direct injection or downsizing. Certain regimes are clearly identified as optimal for certain range of loads. For gasoline engines, the Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) c...

A Computational Study of the Effects of Combustion Chamber Geometries on Combustion Process and Emission in a DI Diesel Engine

A computational study aiming to investigate the effect of combustion chamber geometry on combustion process and emission has been carried out in a direct injection diesel engine. The combustion process and emission of three different combustion chamber geometries were considered, and combustion process behaviors such as variation of mean pressure, velocity, heat release rate, emission productio...
